Just so you know. I was talking to someone yesterday involved with a Club aiming to get in the conference.

I mentioned Darlow 5-6-7-8 to them, and asked him if he would be looking at any of their players for next season.....what with you storming the Church of England Vicars 11 league.

He said, and I quote:

"They are paying ridiculous money to their players, especially at their level, and we would never pay that amount, even at our level, two levels above them. Spennymoor are the same. Though Spennymoor have a rich chairman funding them. It is possible some of the darlow players might become available as we have heard they already have financial problems. We dont know how they are managing to fund players at the level they are."

Seriously though, I was just going to ask if you go to Darlo away matches down south but then I remembered that you don't play anyone further south than Guisborough. Another session with the administrators and the team will be able to get to all their fixtures on their bikes.

I was merely talking to someone that is a director of a club two levels up from you, and so I mentioned about good players at lower levels, that may interest them. So i thought Darlow must have some decent players they might be interested in. Hence his comments above.

So tell me, how on earth are you paying them THAT much?

I suggest you come back when a) you have your own ground b) actually play in the town you represent and c) replace Gateshead as the 5th North East team.....can't ever see that happening like as Gateshead are a financially sound club.

As for that comment about promotion = bigger crowds = more income.....give your heads a shake. You had shit crowds in the Conference. You won't see any change in numbers going to your games until you at least reach the top half of the conference.
